The history of Rotterdam The Hague Airport

Rotterdam The Hague Airport opened its doors in 1956. The airport was then called Zestienhoven Airport. The test flights were to start on September 17, 1956, but a week before that, an aeroplane landed unexpectedly at Zestienhoven. The Danish pilot Grum-Schwansen had seen the airport on an aviation map but did not know that it was not yet operational.

Until 1990, Zestienhoven Airport was owned by the municipality of Rotterdam. On November 1 that year, management was transferred to Schiphol group. The name changed from Zestienhoven to Rotterdam Airport. In February 2010, it got renamed again. Since then, the airport’s official name has been Rotterdam The Hague Airport (RTM). The type of vehicle

A ride in a regular taxi is cheaper than a ride in a taxi van.
