We want our service to bring a smile to the face of everyone who uses it. That applies to passengers but also drivers, partners and colleagues. And that is sometimes quite a challenge in a turbulent market.

Staxi: the first TTO in the Netherlands
Amsterdam was the first city to issue a municipal taxi regulation. This regulation obliges taxi drivers who want to serve the so-called Amsterdam taxi-hailing market to unite with an Authorised Taxi Organisation (TTO). In practice, this means that a driver in Amsterdam cannot just pick up customers who are hailing a taxi on the street or at a taxi rank. This is only allowed if he or she is affiliated with a TTO.
On March 4th, 2013, we were the first organisation to receive a TTO permit from alderman Wiebes. With this permit, we were officially recognised as TTO by the municipality.
Since then, a lot has happened within our company. Starting with about 180 drivers, we have grown to a fleet of more than 600 drivers in a period of six years, making Staxi one of the biggest taxi organisations in the city of Amsterdam!
In addition to their work on the taxi-hailing market, Staxi drivers have a lot of experience in carrying out subsidised taxi travel (AOV) for the elderly or lightly disabled. People who can no longer use normal public transport are often dependent on the AOV.
Staxi 2.0: fixed price, no surprise!
We are always trying to find new ways of improving our services. In which ways can we be even more helpful towards both our drivers and our customers?
From this perspective, we have undergone a major transformation in the first part of 2017. New branding, the launch of our Staxi App and of course the introduction of our fixed price, no surprise! This is Staxi 2.0.
Book your taxi via our website or App, and the rate for your taxi ride is settled. Even when the traffic is busy and your driver knows a faster but longer route, the initial price is the price you will actually pay. Safe, sure, simple and with a smile. These are our key points!
What makes us unique?
In our original service area, the Amsterdam City Region, there are numerous taxi companies. But there are none like us!
Approximately 600 drivers are affiliated with Staxi. As a result, you can book a taxi 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; there’s always a Staxi driver up and at it. The operators/dispatchers are available and operational 24/7 as well.
Of course, we’re not the only large taxi company in Amsterdam. Some of the other big ones offer fixed prices for reservations as well, mostly exclusively for transport to and from Schiphol Airport. Still, none of those companies can match our price-quality ratio. And, yes, that’s easily said, so go ahead and compare the prices, quality and service level of other suppliers with those of Staxi!
Furthermore, we’re not an anonymous taxi platform, but our roots are in the industry itself. That’s why we know where there’s room for improvement, both for the taxi consumer and the taxi driver. With our knowledge of the field, we are committed to all involved parties. That is what makes Staxi unique.
Our drivers
Staxi drivers belong to the best drivers in town. They are independent entrepreneurs, operating under the Staxi flag and meeting the Staxi standards. Each one of our drivers has completed our specially designed Staxi training, held at the Staxi Academy. During this training, the following issues are addressed:

✓ Many other topics related to transporting passengers in actual practice
What’s more, over 70% of our drivers is accredited with a special TX certification. In order to get this respectable certificate, the driver must fulfil a CPR-course in addition to the obligatory Staxi training. Long story short: you are in good hands with a Staxi-driver!
Quality demands for our drivers
To ensure the high quality that we demand for our drivers, we have them meet certain requirements:
» A Staxi driver doesn’t drive outdated vehicles (as a general rule: no older than eight years)
» A Staxi driver is always traceable. When booking taxis through our app, you will always know where your driver is now and how long it will take him to get to your pickup location
» A Staxi driver knows what he’s doing. Our drivers follow a yearly course at our Staxi Academy.
As a consequence, Staxi has been a reliable partner for institutions such as Amsterdam Schiphol Airport and the municipality of Amsterdam, among others.
Staxi through the years
- 2012: Staxi is established
- 2013: We are the first to get the TTO recognition from the Amsterdam municipality
- 2013: The organisation that supervises all the taxis at Schiphol airport (STC) also recognises us officially. Staxi drivers are now eligible to offer their taxi services from the official Schiphol taxi rank.
- 2013: Our company is inspected according to the guidelines of the TX and we receive the TX approval for taxi companies
- 2015: Staxi Academy is established
- 2017: Our very own taxi booking app goes live in the stores
- 2017: Fixed price, no surprise! Everyone who books a Staxi gets a fixed price in advance
- 2018: We’ve moved to a larger new office in Amsterdam Noord
- 2020: Staxi obtains ISO9001:2015 certification
- 2020: The city of Amsterdam grants us the Mokumflex transport contract in the areas Landelijk Noord and Driemond
- 2022: Staxi wins the Travel & Hospitality Award for Transfer Company of the Year in The Netherlands
