Rietveld Schröder House
Entirely in the style of De Stijl: the Rietveld Schröder House on the Prins Hendriklaan in Utrecht. The Utrecht furniture designer Gerrit Rietveld designed the house on behalf of visual artist Truus Schröder.
In 1921 she already had Rietveld renovate a room in the house on Biltstraat where she lived with her husband. After her husband died in 1923, Schröder asked Rietveld to help her find a suitable home in Amsterdam. When neither found anything fitting, Rietveld proposed designing a home for her.
Schröder approved the third design, and construction ended in 1924. Schröder lived there from January 1925 until she died in 1985, together with Rietveld. In 2000, the Rietveld Schröder House claimed its place on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
